This lush Montalcino vineyard villa is in the shadows of the splendid Castello di Velona, the San Giuseppe estate sprawls over twelve hectares of lush vineyards south of Castelnuova dell’ Abate and offers impressive panoramic picture postcard views of the Amiata valley and surrounding mountains of this fertile region of Tuscany.
Built in the Sienese style this recently renovated villa fuses old world charm with features such as terracotta tiled floors, beamed ceilings, exposed stonework walls , and wood-burning fireplaces with 21st century comforts such as internet access, an electronic security system, satellite television to offer its guests the perfect place to enjoy all the charms of Tuscany. With large windows throughout, San Giuseppe is a bright and lively villa. The villa’s owner has furnished the villa with an interesting mixture of paintings, photographs sculptures and various contemporary art pieces by emerging Italian artists including Giacinto Cerone, Federico Pietrella, Andrea Aquilanti and Cannavacciolo.
GROUND FLOOR: An electronic security key system unlocks Villa San Giuseppe’s massive wooden doors. Through these antique doors is a bright hallway leading to the communal areas of the villa. There is an open floor plan which fills the villa with light and it has clean architectural lines. A brick archway sets off a small cozy lounge on the right, while on the left is the living room with its magnificent fireplace. From this living room, French doors access the villa’s sun terrace furnished with an outdoor dining table shaded by a gazebo. Adjoining the living room is the dining room with its large antique wooden dining table. There is a lovely fully equipped cook’s kitchen which also accesses the outdoors should one want to dine al fresco There is also a study room with a single twin bed.
FIRST FLOOR: There are four double bedrooms and three bathrooms. The two corner bedrooms, overlooking the vineyards, have their own en suite travertine bathrooms, one of the bathrooms has a shower, the other a bathtub. The other two bedrooms share a common bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a large fireplace and access to the outside garden via an exterior stone staircase.
Exiting Villa San Giuseppe the garden steps descend to the lower pool terrace. Surrounded by olive trees this secluded pool offers phenomenal panoramic views over the Amiata valley below, and of the Castello di Velona above. There is a small stone building by the large pool, which has a barbeque – and there is seating for a lovely al fresco meal!
