Perhaps the most impressive, and most famous villa in Southern Tuscany, the historic Villa Laura, also known as “Villa Bramasole” in the Under The Tuscan Sun, is a breathtaking 10-bedroom air-conditioned estate. Featured in the classic movie Under The Tuscan Sun, Villa Laura is located just below the famous city of Cortona.

This spectacular villa brings luxury to a completely new level – and those guests who routinely stay at five-star hotels quickly discover that there is a whole other level of splendor that they had been missing until they stay at Villa Laura.

The Cortona villa is so spectacular that guests often never leave the grounds as to do anything else pales by comparison! Guest find fluffy bathrobes, slippers, and the finest Egyptian cotton linens, together with fabulous Italian products for each bathroom. There is a housekeeper every morning to tidy, make beds, and ensure that guests find everything is perfect under the Tuscan sun!

Villa Laura History

Lavishly restored in 2010, the 700 square meters Villa Laura traces its history back to Etruscan times, and the gorgeous wine cellar in the villa dates back to 600 A.D. Subsequent generations built and rebuilt the villa and it took its present-day form in the early 17th century.

The estate comprises three structures, the main Villa, the Farmhouse, and Limonaia. Each room is lavishly furnished and has an en suite bathroom. Lavish, stunning, pampered are the operative words at Villa Laura and it is the perfect place for a family holiday, wedding, or corporate event!

Villa Laura is located walking distance from the village of Cortona on an uphill road. This is the perfect villa for guests that enjoy hiking and strolling into town in the morning to enjoy the Tuscan village life!

There are three main buildings on the estate, sleeping a total of 20 people (plus infants sharing rooms) in 10 en-suite bedrooms. The Villa, The Farmhouse, and the Limonaia. Originally the Farmhouse was used as housing for the animals and farmworkers, the Limonaia was built to keep the citrus plants over winter, and the villa was for the family.

Today, all three buildings have been restored into luxury accommodation. Every room has a beautiful view over the gardens up to Cortona or over the olive groves and across the valley. All are fitted with air conditioning, hairdryers, a selection of luxurious natural Italian products, fully bathrobes, slippers, and sheets of the highest quality Egyptian cotton.

The Villa

The Villa is suited to accommodate 10 guests in five bedrooms. There are four rooms on the first floor which are the largest, each one approximately 25 square meters, three with bath and shower, and one with just a shower. There is a further bedroom on the ground floor which is slightly smaller at 15 square meters with a bath and a shower. These rooms all have beautiful views, either out over the garden up to Cortona or over the valley. Each room is individually designed featuring antique furniture, hand-woven Busatti fabrics, beautiful travertine stone for the bathrooms, and the highest quality bed linen. All rooms in the Villa have king-size beds.

The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse is suited to accommodate eight guests in four bedrooms. Three of the rooms are approximately 15 square meters and one slightly larger at approximately 25 square meters. There is one room that can be made into a twin, two with queen size beds, and one with a king-size. All have their own en-suite bathrooms, two with a bath and a shower, and two with just a shower. These rooms all have beautiful views over the garden. As in the Villa, each room is individually designed featuring antique furniture, hand-woven Busatti fabrics, beautiful travertine stone for the bathrooms, and the highest quality bed linen.

The Limonaia

The Limonaia is a double suite with an en-suite shower room, a living area with a double sofa bed, and a private terrace with beautiful views out over the valley. This room has been carefully designed using colours from the original 17th Century fresco which covers the dome ceiling of the living room. Soft pinks, turquoise, and creams make this a very relaxing special place to stay. With its own private terrace, you have complete privacy from the rest of the garden.

Villa Laura is perfect in every way and to say that its 10 hectares of gardens are magnificent would be a severe understatement! The splendid lower gardens are believed to have been designed by the legendary Medici family during the Renaissance, and there is a lake that sustains them.

The classic Italian upper gardens surrounding the beautiful 10- by 5-meter swimming pool are well lavishly maintained. There are roses, fruit trees, and organic vegetable gardens which the chef uses for the splendid meals he prepares. There is a lavish outdoor dining area under a gorgeous pergola.
