Villa la Querce is one of TuscanDream’s most requested and most beloved villas. Originally built in the fifteenth century this magnificent Florence staffed villa is the living definition of charm – located in the Impruneta hills. The villa’s live in staff welcome you to the best week of your life at this wonderful 900 square meter seven air conditioned bedroom mansion.
La Querce was built in the Florentine style and has been lovingly restored and furnished by its owners the warm and gracious Marchi family. With large and well furnished rooms, beautiful grounds, wonderful views and a charming consecrated chapel on its grounds La Querce is perfect for weddings as well as family gatherings.
Villa la Querce provides a historical footnote to World War II. It owes its name to a very large oak tree on the estate which was cut down by the Germans in a move that backfired on them when the tree fell the wrong way and ended up blocking the Germans retreat from Italy. For those who want to enjoy Florence but hate the hassle of parking and driving in the Renaissance City, there is a regularly scheduled bus that stops right outside the villa’s gates on its route to Florence Piazza Stazione.
La Querce is an outstanding wine and olive oil producing estate. The villa makes three red wines, two of which, La Torretta and La Querce, which were recently awarded with Gran Menzione in a very prestigious Riconoscimento in the wine world. It also produces a fine grappa. Guests are given a free tour to the vineyard and cellar, and are offered a meeting with the vintner who will explain the entire wine making process as well as give them a complimentary tasting of the estate’s gourmet wines and oils.
Villa la Querce is a marvelous villa and is the perfect vacation home for family reunions, small weddings and gatherings of friends.
Ground Floor: One enters La Querce through a large and gorgeous salon with terracotta floors, wooden beamed ceilings, a magnificent working fireplace, wonderful paintings and photographs and a beautiful oriental rug. Adjoining the main salon to the left is an impeccably furnished living room with a luminous seating area and original paintings. Across the hall is a king bedroom with en suite bathroom and a bedroom with two canopied twin beds.
One enters La Querce through a gate lined with Cyprus and olive trees. Under a large fig tree is a great sitting area, and there is an outdoor logetta which is perfect for dining. There is a large eight by fifteen meter swimming pool with top quality pool furniture and sun umbrellas, hidden among the olive trees and surrounded by a laurel hedge. There is a small independent chapel which is still consecrated, so couples can be married.
