Property Description

The luxurious six bedroom air conditioned Villa Contessa Marianna is locatedĀ within walking distance of the picturesque town of San Miniato, forty minutes west of Florence. Featuring a large communal area and a great kitchen, this stately Tuscan Villa with a heated swimming pool is the perfect villa for a family holiday or a gathering of friends.

Rich in history, the villa once belonged to the family of Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1701 Maria Maddalena Bonaparte received this fantastic mansion as part of her dowry. In 1805 Contessa Marianna was given to the present owners’ family. During World War II the German High Command seized the villa to use as their Tuscany headquarters – and demanded that the owners family help maintain the villa. Little did they know that the owners family was operating the underground right beneath their noses!

Contessa Marianna has been recently restored and is a wonderful residence for those looking to spend their holiday amongst historical treasures. One of the additional joys of renting the villa is the friendly owner’s family who live at the other side of the estate and are eager to help you enjoy all the magnificence of Tuscany.

The villa is on a private villa situated on a knoll at the foot of San Miniato’s hill, a historic village full of cultural activities and famous for its production of white truffles and wild mushrooms. The large and elegant rooms coupled with the generous garden sloping down to the inviting private solar heated swimming pool create the splendid setting for a perfect holiday amongst friends and family!

The living room has a charming working fireplace.
